Does a defense attorney enjoy the sole authority to pick a potential juror?

or does the attorney quitely confer with his client to stay/excuse a possible juror? Recently I really wanted to be a juror for the experience and I did my best to bestow nuetral answers. I got excused before I even get a chance to warm my juror's form. The questioning was such a blur..darn! I grain like always a bridesmaid, never a bride, lol.:-p
Answers:
both the defense attorney and prosecutor can dismiss jurors, they usually both take a certain number of jurors they can excuse for no reason (so long as it isn't base on race/gender) and then they can challenge unique jurors for cause but that is undercooked

sometimes the defendant gets a say surrounded by the manner but very on the odd occasion....defendants are generally too stupid to help within picking a jury
Selecting a jury is as much an adversarial process as the trial itself. Both the prosecutor and the defense attorney(s) join in the process. The defense attorney, since s/he represents his/her client is wise to confer beside the defendant and discuss potential jurors with him/her. If a defense attorney completely excludes the defendant from participation contained by the jury selection process and the defendant wanted to play a part, it COULD be grounds for an appeal for ineffective assistance of counsel. The defense attorney represents a client and ignores that fact to his/her own potential peril.
Generally, the jury screening process is left to the defense attorney; however, a good advocate will confer with his client if for no other reason than it is honest for the attorney/client relationship. Depends on what the case is, and what type of jury they are looking for. The attorney's pick the jury, their clients don't have any utter so in that aspect of the case.
