How do you surface nearly Obama beating the American Taliban Defense Lawyer?
I for one, agree with the last sentence. This is purely another thing he's done that has pretty much hermetically sealed the fate of America. Thanks for voting him in, Kool-aid kids! You elected someone who chose a Taliban champion instead of someone who defends Americans who lose their lives to those radical low lifes?

President Obama, who as a candidate was accuse of "pallin' around with" former domestic terrorist William Ayers and other controversial figures, has select the "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh's defense attorney for a key Justice Department post.
Tony West, a San Francisco-based lawyer who worked contained by the Clinton Administration's Justice Department, has been nominated for an assistant attorney nonspecific position overseeing Justice's Civil Division. He also, conveniently enough, helped make higher $65 million for Obama in California as a state finance co-chair during the electioneer.
Not a bad down payment.
West is undoubtedly a gifted attorney, negotiating a guilty plea for Lindh on reduced charges and helping the ex-Taliban fighter avoid the extermination penalty or a lifetime jail sentence (Hurray!). And, resembling Ayers, West doesn't regret his past -- even "said it was the brand of work he believed in," Bob Egelko writes in the San Francisco Chronicle.
But his nomination could brew another mêlée on Capitol Hill, should Senate Republicans locate their cajones.
President Obama and his supporters have been trying to characterize Obama's more controversial appointments as a demonstration of his commitment to pragmatism despite political risks:
Raytheon lobbyist for deputy defense secretary? "He clearly needed and wanted this man," Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) says.
Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State, shady donations and adjectives? It's a Lincoln-esque "Team of Rivals."
Rahm "Rahmbo" Emanuel for chief of staff, a man known for his aggressive partisan tendency? Obama calls him "'the whole package' of political acumen, policy chops and pragmatism," according to the New York Times.
Political spin aside, surely Obama could hold found a less toxic choice than a Taliban fighter's lawyer; conceivably someone who defended the other guy?
Answers:
Being a defense attorney doesn't mean that you support the individual that you're defending. It's an integral division of our justice system, a system that wouldn't work without them. In this country individuals are innocent until prooven guilty and enjoy the right to defend themselves against their accusations. Would you prefer to live contained by a country without those rights? Someone has to shield the accused (yes, even if they're accused of terrorism). He did his profession, and if this is the only objection that fundies have to his appointment, later President Obama's judgement is sound.
I feel that more and more he is showing the truth that he is a closet Muslim.too tardy now though.
I'm a ping pong between liberal and conservative unfortunately.
The logic behind this result defies me and should be considered treason.
I don't like the hint Kool-aid kids #1 because it defeats your purpose #2 I like Kool-aid kids, I could step on about that but it is merely a personal issue.
Bottom line, to credit the career of anyone that defends empire that intend to harm our country is ludicrous.
Not good. A qualified hopeful with a less controversial former would be much more acceptable, and there are frequent to chose from out there. Then again, most of the Cabinet appointees are not necessarily the best choices either. But let's see what happen, things may be better than they seem.
