I've remunerated my legal representative for a divorce, but very soon he is not responding to emails or phone call?

I still don't have my divorce. I hired him Jan 5, 2009. I'm in the state of Va. I departed my ex in 2003, I got tired of waiting on officially recognized aide so I met with a lawyer who be handling a friend's custody case. She is now have the same issue getting her divorce. I paid him $150 for the consultation. Then we set up a pay plan, $100 a month and he said it would cost some where between $800 and $1000. When I got to $750 I requested a final amount so I can pay cheque him the rest in a lump sum. He stated he would get posterior to me and that I could expect papers the following week. (This was the beginning of October after multiple attempts to contact him) Since consequently I have emailed and called next to no response. I put read receipts on my emails and he didn't even read some of them. I sent him another email today again requesting the final amount owed and when I can expect the divorce and even asked if he could not deliver I would at least like to carry my money back. He did read this email, but did not respond. I am at my wits end. I want to be done next to my ex legally so I can move on and enjoy a life. I'm 30 years old and I'd close to to get married again and would like to own a real life not restricted by legalized documents. My ex doesn't even have contact with our children so it's not as if there's a intention to hold off on the divorce in armour we 'get back together' that's definitely not occurring. What can I possibly do to get my divorce or to get my money rear? When I looked on the Barr site they stated they can't make a lawyer deliver the service or to clear me back. I was also told I can't sue him as I would a regular citizen.... so am I out that money or is within hope?
Answers:
Baby...he's a lawyer. He isn't done raping you financially.
Looks like you are going to own to get his attention. Get out your pen and start writing letters complaining around his conduct as an attorney to the Bar Association, news media and anyone else you can estimate of (with copies sent to him). Don't get out your picket sign yet, but judge about it.
The reason they bury lawyer at 60 feet when they die is because deep down they're not so bleak.
I wish you luck.
