My first DWI, what can I expect?

This past weekend, I was pulled over by a New York State Trooper for speeding, 80 surrounded by a 55, I also got a DWI. I blew a .11. I have see some answers here saying that I need a advocate, But I don't have the money for one. Should I plea not-guilty or guilty? I don't care if I lose my license, I purely don't want to get jail time or probation. Does anyone know my probability or getting just a license suspension and fines? And does anyone know of a way to obtain a cheap lawyer, if need be? I live surrounded by Huntington, on Long Island, New York.

Your entitled to court appointed lawyer so ask the court to appoint you one. Regardless of what happens, your gonna be out alot of money by the running out of it, so get ready. Source(s): Been here, done that, still have the T-shirt.
Yes, you need a lawyer, not lone for the DWI, but driving over 20 MPH over the limit in that condition. Beg, borrow, or run up a credit card to attain one. You need someone with biddable negotiations with the prosecutor. Don't plead guilty.

I would enunciate a couple of days in the tank is feasible, along with long hours of community service, like 80 hrs. A nice fine of give or take a few $1000 will also be coming.

Let's hope its your last one too.

If you blew a .11 you might be better off pleading guilty and conceivably because its your first offense the judge will go a touch easier on you. If you plead not guilty it might just piss him off and he might present you a worse sentence. Honesty is the best policy. Good luck.
YOU NEED A LAWYER!

Now that I'm done shouting, tolerate me explain. Without a lawyer, the DA will do whatever he can to build your life miserable. Trying to save money on your defense will cost you money within a DWI case.

Your best bet is to find out if there are any former prosecutors from the court you'll be tried surrounded by. If you can find a criminal lawyer who has worked underneath the judge, he'll be worth his rate 10x over. Don't get a cut-rate advocate from TV... they take their $500 and plea you out with no more than 1 hour's try. It's a racket. You'll have to pay envelope more for a good lawyer, but the results will be far better.
