Careless driving next to personal injury ticket surrounded by NJ?

I received a careless driving ticket because I went through a stop sign and be hit by a car coming the other way. I be blinded by oncoming headlights and misjudged when the stop sign was coming up. The people surrounded by the other car were not hurt, but I did own my daughter taken to the ER to get checked out for a bump on the head. My court date is coming up and I hold no idea what to expect or how much the ticket will be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Careless driving is a civil infraction not a criminal situation. You can hire a lawyer if you like. An expense you really don't call for though. If found responsible, which you will be if you ran the stop sign, you will get license sanction (points in MI) and a fine. Courts will increase the fines when a crash is involved. Could be a couple hundred dollars.
