Hi, I work for benefits, the maximum amount of money you can hold is lb16,000 before benefit would stop. Since there be lb300,000 compensation then benefits would be stopped. When a claim for benefit is made there is a proclamation page that you have to sign which says you must inform your local benefit department of any changes, if the benefit office have been advised after they would have stopped the benefit, not advising the benefits organization is committing benefit fraud because it was a change affecting benefit that be not notified. The money should be paid spinal column asap otherwise the local authority could take matters further and prosecute for benefit fraud.

In the instance of compensation received due to a personal injury, the lump sum gift should be ignored for the first 52 weeks or until the money is spent whichever comes first.
On the claim form, one of the question would have been "Are you currently awaiting the outcome of a compensation claim?" - any the claimant answered "no", which would have been untruthful, or "yes", contained by which case they would have later been informed by the benefits agency that any compensation which they subsequently received would be subject to deductions.
yes, they can because - you only bnefits are for relatives struggling with money, so how ever this were they enjoy technically committed fraud. They would need to make an appointment beside citizens advice or a solicitor for advice! but they will hold to pay it back!
In my experience the benefits are perfectly inside their rights to claim this back, it's classed as an over payment. You can single claim if you have an income of less than lb3000 I estimate. You'll find the answer from this link.

Yes they can although what is recoverable is strictly laid down. I am really suprised though as within all cases I have come across the repayment is deduct from your damages before you get it. Must be a long time ago I guess
The compensation was, amongst other things, for lost profits. You cannot be compensated for something you have lost if you still have it. The benefits agency are reasonably correctly claiming the money back.
well, the u.k benefit system help only those of us that can prove that we really on our ar$e, if your friend got the money and worked, economically more power to our for catching him / her out. what your friend needs to do is visit his local benefit bureau or tax office and explain their situation, but not mention any work they may hold done in the meantime..

and,, if they got lb300,000 within comensation, well its about time they payed their taxes, it sickens me every week how much i salary, and what do i see for it?

oh you guessed it ,, funk all

and next time i do myself out of a chore for being a smart ar$e, tell me where on earth i send them to your friend.

it's mighty grim here!!
